Having just debuted a successful showcase in Paris, renowned Canadian designer duo, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong of luxury womenswear label, Greta Constantine marked its 10-year anniversary with the close-out show for the 2016 Toronto World Mastercard Fashion Week. Greta Constantine has accumulated an international clientele comprised of celebrities, and socialites, and was most recently spotted on Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. It is without question that Greta Constantine showcased the most highly anticipated and well-received show during fashion week on Friday, and it was a celebration the MacCom team was excited to be a part of. The fall/winter 2016 collection hit the runway with an opening sequence of night-time staples in a wave of metallicized silks in second-skin silhouettes, capturing a rock n’roll feel. Next, a relaxed treasure trove of Victoriana excess evoked a modern personal mix up that captured queen and mean. Structured metallic suits, dramatic full skirts and gorgeously draped dresses in varying textures were juxtaposed with the artful modernity of the Apple Watch. With spools of luxurious black sheer tulle and a fulling marching band dressed in metallic hues and varying textures to cap off show, the collection reflected a feeling of celebration and anticipation for the next decade to come.
